ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sheldon C. Schoneberg (1926-2012) was an American artist known for his vibrant, colorful pastel works. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he moved to Los Angeles, California by 1930. Schoneberg received formal art training at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, the University of Southern California, and the Academia di Belle Arti in Rome. He later taught art at institutions like the University of New York and the University of Maine.
Schoneberg's artwork often depicted female nudes, musicians, gypsies, and children, capturing their essence with rich, vivid pastels. His works have been showcased in various museums worldwide and are highly sought after in auctions today. Some of his pieces include oils and watercolors, though pastels remained his primary medium throughout his career.
His contributions to the art world were significant, with numerous exhibitions and auction sales reflecting the ongoing interest in his work.
